Your Guide to CA’s 2023 Pool Season
Want to make the most of pool season? Opening day is Saturday, May 27, and CA’s Aquatics team is SO excited to welcome you back to all 23 outdoor pools. ๐โ๏ธ๐ย
Here are some reminders about what to expect and highlights to look forward to!
Safety comes first
This year’s free swim lessons will take place June 11 and June 18. Don’t forget about the World’s Largest Free Swim Lesson at Running Brook Pool on June 22! More information coming soon on our CA swim lesson webpage.
Also, a reminder that life vests are available for free at all of our outdoor pools.
Columbia Cardholder perksย
If you live on CA-assessed property but arenโt a CA member, you can request a free Columbia Card to enjoy our outdoor pools at a discounted rate!
Columbia Cardholders get four guest passes for the 2023 season, which can be used Monday through Thursday (excluding holidays). All Columbia Cardholders also get free admission to CAโs outdoor pools on the second Sunday of each month: June 11, July 9 and August 13.
As a reminder, obtaining a Columbia Cardholder is an easy (and free) process. Contact CAโs Customer Care Team at CMSC@ columbiaassociation.org or 410-730-1801.
CNSL awesomenessย
The Columbia Neighborhood Swim League (CNSL) is one of our community’s most beloved summertime traditions. All swimmers ages 18 and younger are welcome to come practice for free during First Splash (May 30-June 2). You can learn more about CNSL here.
Expanding accessibilityย
For the past seven years, CA has partnered with the Howard County Autism Society for autism awareness training. This year, the Aquatics division is excited to expand this effort and work with the International Board of Credentials and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) to become a Certified Autism Centerโข (CAC).
As part of this effort, at least 80% of our team will be trained and certified in the field of autism, and there will be upgrades to our outdoor pools and signage to better serve individuals with autism.
General remindersย
- CAโs outdoor pools accept electronic payments and CA gift cards only. Cash will not be accepted.
- We can’t wait for this community to check out our latest projects! This summer, we’re proud to debut the replastered Swansfield pool (including a refinished waterslide), plus new and improved bath houses at Locust Park and Huntington. You can also cool off in new shade canopies at Huntington.
- Just like last year, you can look forward to a variety of food and refreshments from local vendors all summer long. Check with your neighborhood pool for the food truck schedule!
- Military members and their families pay Columbia Cardholder admission rates at Faulkner Ridge, Jeffers Hill, Macgillโs Common, Running Brook and Talbott Springs.
