Columbia Association (CA) has a unique role in the Columbia community as a major landowner, steward of the environment, and provider of community, recreational, and cultural services. CA is not a government agency; we are a nonprofit community services corporation. Click here to learn more about who handles what.
CA maintains nearly 3,600 acres of open space as a permanent asset for residents. Neighborhood amenities include lakes, parks, tot lots, basketball and tennis courts and 95 miles of walking, jogging and biking pathways. The Community Development & Real Estate Services Division coordinates CA’s interaction with local government, civic, and community-based organizations on issues of policy, legislation, and projects related to planning and zoning, land use, transportation, economic and community development, environmental planning, data analysis and mapping, enhancement of pedestrian and bicycle networks, design initiatives and other projects that impact Columbia.
The division supports CA’s mission of providing for the growth of people through education and engagement initiatives. CDRES ensures CA has the knowledge and tools necessary to be a successful steward of the open space lands we hold in trust by managing CA’s property information, processing easement requests and overseeing neighbor relations where CA open space and adjacent properties are located.
