CA Board Conducts Interviews for New President/CEO Search
CA’s Board of Directors is undergoing virtual interviews before entering the final stages of the hiring process
COLUMBIA, MD. – Columbia Association (CA) is one step closer to welcoming a new President/CEO to lead the $80 million organization. The Board of Directors is currently conducting virtual interviews with the top applicants. This follows a months-long nationwide search by recruitment firm TransPro Executive Placement.
“As an organization, we are pleased to invite these highly qualified individuals to the next phase of this process,” Director of Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion Monica McMellon-Ajayi said. “We look forward to the Board’s final decision and the leadership that our new President/CEO will bring to CA’s mission of enhancing the quality of life for the Columbia community.”
The interviews taking place will help narrow the pool to a small group of finalists for this important position. Those individuals will be interviewed by CA senior leadership and Board members before an employment offer is extended to one of the candidates. The Board expects to achieve the targeted timeline of having a finalist selected in the month of March with employment tentatively beginning at the start of the new fiscal year (May 2024).
Interim President/CEO Dennis Mattey is scheduled to end his tenure on April 30, 2024. Mattey has been part of CA for 50 years. Most recently, he served as the Vice President of Community Operations, overseeing open space, sustainability, capital improvements, real estate services and events programming.
“I truly believe there is no better job than serving the Columbia community, and I have had the pleasure of doing so for my entire career,” Mattey said. “I have been honored to step up in this interim capacity and look forward to helping in the transition into this new chapter for CA and its team members.”
