Renovations Complete At The Racquet Club At Hobbit’s Glen
Great news: The Racquet Club at Hobbit’s Glen is back and better than ever! We are excited to share that the renovated courts will be open to the public on April 26, 2021.
Over the last 12 months, the facility was rebuilt from the ground up to significantly enhance the tennis playing experience for members and guests. Here’s a quick look at the state-of-the-art upgrades:
- New underground irrigation system: The new HydroGrid system equally distributes water to all areas of the court. Because the courts are watered from below, there’s no down time dedicated to routine watering. Plus, a properly irrigated court creates a softer surface to play on, which is safer for players and enhances movement on the court. It also creates a better bounce for the tennis ball.
- New Har-Tru playing surface: Har-Tru is a unique clay surface that provides numerous benefits to tennis players, including reducing the risk of injuries, keeping the surface an average of 20% cooler than hard courts and absorbing water quickly. In fact, players can be on a clay court in a matter of minutes after a rain shower!
- New fencing: Based on feedback that tennis balls were flying off the far courts and into the pond area/poison ivy, we put in new taller fencing.
- New retaining wall: There’s now a new retaining wall (pictured below) with a nice grassy area to give tennis players a space to relax and enjoy themselves.
