Columbia’s Founder, James W. Rouse would have celebrated his 103rd Birthday on April 26, 2017.
A tribute to his vision and dedication to a better city was held on May 9 at Howard Community College (HCC). Josh Olsen, his biographer and author of “Better Places. Better Lives”, presided over the morning session where keynote speaker, Ann Forsyth, Harvard University, Graduate School of Design presented “Health and Well-being in Columbia – Early Aims and Future Potential”.
HCC’s Rouse Scholars* participated in a community exchange with business leaders and early Columbia residents during lunch.
* Rouse Scholars is a selective and challenging honors and leadership program for graduating high school seniors in Howard County.
