Let's Do This!

Stream Waders

Each year in March and April, several Columbia stream sites are sampled for macroinvertebrates. These insects can provide an index of overall stream health. While on-site, we also remove litter, measure water chemistry and plant life.

Tree Planting

Join us in planting new trees in the fall and spring seasons. This contributes to the overall health of Columbia and the entire area by helping with erosion control, and generally makes Columbia an even more beautiful place to live.

Adopt a Spot

The program recognizes spots in open space where Weed Warriors have been removing non-native invasive plants and replacing them with native plants. Weed Warriors can also work with CA staff and select new spots to “adopt.”

Pull & Plant

During Pull and Plant events held throughout the year, groups of volunteers are taught how to remove specific non-native invasive plants and replant the area with native plants. It’s a great way to help environmental sustainability!

Weed Warriors

Certified volunteer leaders, who complete CA’s training program, may supervise and “lead” groups of volunteers onto the open space to perform designated invasive weed removal tasks. This helps the natural habitat in Columbia flourish.
