As the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Columbia Association, Susan Krabbe leads finance, HR, IT, purchasing and risk management. Under her leadership, CA upgraded its credit rating, created and enhanced emergency cash reserves, and transitioned through the pandemic, resulting in CA’s strongest financial results in its history. In 2023, she was named one of the Top 25 CFOs of Maryland by Finance & Investing.

Susan’s mission is to facilitate services and programs for our diverse community of residents, members and CA team members by ensuring that essential resources are available to provide those services. She also leads the effort to safeguard CA’s assets in the present and plan for the future, so that CA itself remains a valuable and financially sound community asset. In this role, Susan and her team are engaged with every person and each part of this unique organization. She considers it a privilege and delight to help the community and our team members thrive and enjoy the exceptional amenities, activities and services CA provides.

Susan began her career in public accounting with what is now PWC (Price Waterhouse Coopers). She worked in the controller’s office and as an internal audit manager for the Johns Hopkins University, and as an assistant controller for Genesis Health Ventures, a public, elder-care company. Susan joined CA in 1998, serving as Assistant Division Director for Finance and in various other capacities before being appointed to her current role in 2010.

She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Loyola University Maryland and is a certified public accountant and a certified internal auditor. Susan is passionate about the outdoors and volunteering; she has helped to build 12 houses with Habitat for Humanity and is active in her faith community. Her favorite quote is “No margin; no mission.”
