Lakefront Live FAQs
Longtime favorites + new, exciting shows = Lakefront Live!
Here’s what you need to know to enjoy the festivities to the fullest.
Q: Do I have to pay to go to Lakefront Live?
A: CA is hosting 55 nights of FREE entertainment at the Downtown Columbia Lakefront this year. That includes your longtime favorites like movie nights, Dancin’ Under the People Tree and local acts. Additionally this year, we’re teaming up with Columbia Festival of the Arts to bring you five special nights of headline acts plus food and drink available from your favorite local restaurants. That menu is for purchase, but items will be $10 or less.
Q: Do I need to bring my own chair or blanket?
A: This is a BYOC situation… bring your own comfort! Feel free to bring down your favorite folding chair or blanket, kick back and enjoy the show. Please be mindful of your fellow Lakefront Live goers with your seating choices and try not to bring anything that blocks views for others.
Q: Where should I park?
A: You’re welcome to park in the lot next to the Whole Foods along Little Patuxent Parkway. The Mall parking across the Little Patuxent Parkway and the garage on Wincopin Circle are also open to the public. We also encourage everyone to ride your bike down to the Lakefront and park it in one of the bike rack spaces adjacent to Whole Foods.
Q: Can I bring my own food? Will food be provided at any of the events?
A: Yes, you can bring your own food to Lakefront Live. There will also be local restaurants offering exclusively curated menus for our five headline performances. Those offerings are available for purchase, but items will be $10 or less. Check the individual event listing for a menu when that is available!
Q: Can I bring alcoholic beverages?
A: No outside alcohol is permitted. However, alcohol will be sold at Lakefront Live headline concerts. All drinks will be kept in a designated area licensed for alcohol sales.
Q: Is the Lakefront ADA accessible?
A: Yes, we welcome people of all abilities to the Lakefront! The Lakefront Plaza is accessible via multiple ramps, one near Millie Bailey Park and the other next to the stairs leading down to the fountain area.
Q: What are the new events hosted by CA’s International Exchange and Multicultural Program?
A: CA’s International Exchange and Multicultural Program will host three special nights of entertainment, including a local teenager talent demo, a Latin night and a Columbia’s Sister Cities showcase. This is a chance for us to spotlight the uniqueness we all bring to our community. Plus, you can learn more about the program and how to get involved.
Q: Are dogs allowed?
A: Furry family members are welcome to join in the fun! Keep in mind that there will be significant crowds, so if your dog isn’t a people pooch, it may be better to leave them at home.
Q: Why are you asking me to RSVP for the headline concerts?
A: Not only does RSVPing help our food vendors have enough food and drink for everyone to enjoy, but it also allows us to share important information about upcoming Lakefront Live events with you.
Q: What if there’s bad weather? How do I know if a show or movie is canceled?
A: Visit LakefrontLive.org for the latest information regarding weather-related cancellations.
Q: Is smoking allowed?
A: We ask that you refrain from smoking at the Lakefront.
