Spend your summer on Columbia’s two golf courses
CA’s golf memberships allow you to spend more time out on the course.
By Tripp Laino
It might feel too early to start thinking about your summer, but if you enjoy spending some time bombing shots down the fairway and nailing the perfect putt, there’s no better time to start planning.
With two fabulous courses in Columbia, you’ll find the perfect match for you. CA has taken steps to upgrade the turf at both Fairway Hills Golf Club and Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club, with a new mixture of grasses designed to improve playability — and keep you swinging away all summer long.
The perfect time to join
While you don’t have to be a member to golf at Fairway Hills, you do need to be one to golf at Hobbit’s Glen. Don’t worry, though — there are a variety of membership options available. Courses are open now, weather permitting, so get a jump-start on the spring season by joining today.
7Day Golf, 5Day Golf&Play, and Golf Fit&Play memberships each include play at Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club and Fairway Hills Golf Club, and they cover green fees and handicap fees and provide additional benefits. All three memberships mean you can reserve tee times eight days in advance.
7Day Golf members can golf at both courses every day. 5Day Golf&Play members get unlimited green fees on weekdays at Hobbit’s Glen (they must tee off by 11am on Fridays) and on all seven days at Fairway Hills. The 5Day Golf&Play membership also provides access to CA’s outdoor pools, Columbia Swim Center and SplashDown, Columbia SportsPark and SkatePark (which includes mini-golf), Columbia Ice Rink, and the indoor and outdoor tennis courts.
And Golf Fit&Play combines the 7Day Golf membership with a CA Fit&Play membership, which includes CA’s three fitness clubs, plus all of the other fun activities mentioned above.
Under 39? CA’s Junior Executive program is a perfect fit for you! This discounted membership covers handicap fees and includes annual member nights and other social events and tournaments for members only.

New to the game?
If you’re looking to learn the game or improve, CA’s professional golf instructors provide the guidance you need, with lessons tailored specifically for you.
Some training programs incorporate state-of-the-art technology to find the perfect fix for your swing! You can learn the essential concepts of an efficient stroke, build your individual golf stroke and apply it to chipping, pitching, putting and bunker play. They also address the many frustrations you might experience, whether it’s an inconsistent drive, a bad slice or hook, or hitting out of bunkers.

New this year at Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club is Get Golf Ready — I’m Ready to Play! It’s for players who’ve completed the prerequisite Get Golf Ready course, with weekly classes focusing on the keys to scoring, instruction, etiquette, rules of golf, and pace of play. Throughout the year, there will also be Play Dates where students will have the opportunity to play nine holes, learn to shoot par, and progress through various levels, starting from 25 yards.
For current schedule and pricing, call Hobbit’s Glen at 410-730-5980 or visit HobbitsGlenGolfClub.org. New sessions start in May.
