Both of Columbia Association’s golf courses — Hobbit’s Glen Golf Club (named the best in the county for three years in a row) and Fairway Hills Golf Club — offer world-class golf for seasoned veterans and first-timers alike. And though the season’s kickoff tournament isn’t until the end of the month, you can already get out on the course!
There are three ways to get the best access to both of CA’s golf clubs. Membership types include 7Day Golf, 5Day Golf&Play, and Golf Fit&Play memberships, which cover green
fees and provide additional benefits, including play at Hobbit’s Glen and Fairway Hills. For more information, call 410-730-5980 or email Joan.Lovelace@ColumbiaAssociation.org.
And you don’t need to be a golfer, either. Fairway Hills Golf Club recently introduced FootGolf, which combines soccer and golf in a fun, exciting sport. Tee times are on Mondays from 4:30- 6pm beginning Monday, March 5. Call 410-730-1112 for more information or visit FairwayHillsGolfClub.org.
Check out some of the great options to get you out on the links.
Get Golf Ready!
The Get Golf Ready program is designed to teach you in five short lessons everything you’ll need to know to step onto a golf course and play with confidence.
Lessons include on-course activities guided by trained PGA and LPGA professionals who will ensure that you have fun each step of the way! Instructors are ready to show you everything you need to know in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Five one- hour classes also include range balls and equipment for use during classes.
The prices (per five-class session) are $110 for CA members and $125 for non-members. To register, call 410-730-5980 or visit the Pro Shop at Hobbit’s Glen.
Six holes for $6. Seriously.
Early riser? Fairway Hills Golf Club has a bargain for you with six holes of golf (holes 10-12 and 16-18) for $6 (or $10 with cart) on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 7:30-8:30am. Call 410-730-1112 for more information.
The First Tee of Howard County
The First Tee of Howard County is part of a national initiative dedicated to creating access to golf with a special emphasis on young people who otherwise may not have an opportunity to experience the game.
Beyond introducing them to the game, the program aims to provide participants with an opportunity to acquire skills that will help them lead more productive and satisfying lives.
The First Tee of Howard County is located at Fairway Hills Golf Club. Session costs range from $60–$150, depending on age/level; scholarships are available for those who qualify. Call 410-730-1114 for more information or visit TheFirstTeeHowardCounty.org.
