After a long winter, it’s time to get out and enjoy all the spring things Columbia has to offer! Here’s a little inspiration for all ages. 

Kids 

  • Make memories with your preschooler at “Art Together,” a 6-week class for ages 3–6 and their caregivers at the Columbia Art Center. Reserve your spot today. 
  • Looking for an outdoor adventure close to home? Columbia Association (CA) offers 164 play areas for kids to enjoy – find a play area near you.

Teens:  

  • Don’t miss the first-ever MYFest youth arts festival on Saturday, April 25 at Merriweather Post Pavilion, celebrating teen creativity with live performances, workshops, food trucks and more. Learn more here 
  • Books in Bloom returns Saturday, May 9 offering a day of literary fun with a special emphasis on teen voices. Don’t miss featured reading and spoken word from high school and middle school authors, and a creator lab that offers a way to express storytelling through podcasting, vlogging and illustrating. Learn more here. 
  • Teens can drop into the Youth & Teen Center at The Barn anytime to join free clubs and activities or just hang out with friends.

Adults:  

  • The Preakness Stakes, held this year just down the road from Columbia at Laurel Park, is just a few weeks away. Get into the Preakness spirit with a hat pin workshop at the Columbia Art Center on Sunday, May 3Secure your spot here. 
  • Enjoy a night out at Columbia SportsPark’s Midnight Mini-Golf, featuring a Y2K theme, games, tacos and more on Friday, May 8Tickets sell fast, so secure yours! 
  • CA is offering barre in a new setting – the barn at Wilde Lake! Stretch and flex under twinkling lights in a rustic, historic setting for free on Monday evenings through May 18 – come for the workout and stay for the community! 

For all:  

  • Mark your calendar for Columbia’s village elections on Saturday, April 25. Along with voting, enjoy family-friendly activities like bounce houses (Owen Brown), art sales (Long Reach) and plant giveaways across the villages.  
  • The Columbia Art Center invites you to design an umbrella for a vibrant display at the Columbia Festival of Arts Lakefest in June. This year’s theme is “Celebrating the unity of commUNITY through Nature’s Magnificence.” Umbrellas will be available for pickup starting Monday, April 20.
