Columbia Association’s (CA) Board of Directors has voted to approve a multi-year extension for President/CEO Shawn MacInnes, reaffirming its confidence in his leadership and long-term vision for the Columbia community.

Since joining CA in 2024, MacInnes has been instrumental in advancing the organization’s strategic direction and positioning it for a strong next chapter as Columbia approaches its 60th anniversary next year. During his tenure, he has modernized how the community connects with CA programs and services through new tools, strengthened the leadership team through key appointments, expanded engagement with residents and businesses, and aligned the board’s Strategic Plan with operational priorities to advance CA’s mission.

“Shawn’s thoughtful and steady leadership has positioned Columbia Association for success,” said CA Board of Directors Chair Collin Sullivan. “With his continued leadership, Columbia will remain a premier community where people can live, work and raise a family for generations to come.”

MacInnes’ current contract expires on April 30, 2027 (the end of Fiscal Year 2027). This extended commitment appoints MacInnes to lead the organization through the end of Fiscal Year 2031, concluding April 30, 2031.

“I am honored by the board’s decision to extend my service as President/CEO of the Columbia Association,” said CA President/CEO Shawn MacInnes. “From the beginning of my tenure, I have focused on planning Columbia Association’s future in a way that honors our founding values while meeting the evolving needs of today’s residents, businesses and CA members. I look forward to continuing this important work alongside my dedicated and talented colleagues.”

Looking ahead, MacInnes will direct the organization as it embarks on a suite of future-focused initiatives centered on four core priorities:

  • Governance – Strengthening oversight, ethics and decision-making structures
  • Finance – Ensuring long-term sustainability, demonstrating economic value and optimizing membership pricing
  • Community engagement – Deepening connections through programs, digital access and environmental stewardship
  • Organizational operations- Modernizing systems, structures and capabilities for enterprise excellence

MacInnes will present these initiatives to the board at the board meeting on Thursday, April 23. Updates surrounding related projects and other news from CA will be presented at future board meetings and/or on the Columbia Association blog.
