Columbia Association to Bring Community Together for Free FIFA World Cup 26™ Watch Parties at the CA Lakefront Stage
Columbia Association (CA) is inviting the community to watch select FIFA World Cup 26™ games outdoors on the big screen at the CA Lakefront Stage in Downtown Columbia. Two games have been selected initially for this free series. CA plans to broadcast the Scotland vs. Brazil game on June 24 at 6 p.m. and Uruguay vs. Spain on June 26 at 8 p.m. As the series continues, additional games may be announced in the coming weeks.
The CA Lakefront Stage is a brand-new venue overlooking Lake Kittamaqundi in the heart of Downtown Columbia.
“The first live sports broadcast from the CA Lakefront Stage will be one that connects with so many people across our diverse community,” said Shawn MacInnes, President/CEO of Columbia Association. “Building the CA Lakefront Stage was not meant to only enhance the existing events, but to create new opportunities for community connections. We’re thrilled to see this investment in action as we support CA’s multicultural programming.”
The broadcasts builds on CA’s ongoing commitment to multicultural programming and community engagement. Throughout the year, CA offers activities and events that celebrate cultural diversity, cultivate community and foster intercultural understanding within Columbia. These efforts include programming such as the World Languages Café, Around the World: Storytime & Creative Movement series, Heritage Unplugged open mic nights, Juneteenth at the Lakefront, Day of Dance and other events that showcase the rich cultures and traditions represented throughout Columbia.
The broadcast of the FIFA World Cup 26™ game at the CA Lakefront Stage on Friday, June 26 replaces the previously scheduled movie night. Dancin’ Under the People Tree, a Columbia tradition before movies, is still planned that evening, and music will align with the soccer game that follows.
Attendees of the FIFA World Cup 26™ games watch parties are asked to RSVP via Eventbrite and visit ColumbiaAssociation.org/worldcup for additional dates.
The CA Lakefront Stage is located at 10275 Wincopin Circle, Columbia, MD 21044. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket for a comfortable viewing experience and show their team spirit by wearing their favorite team colors, jerseys or fan gear.
