Effective Monday, February 13, 2023, Dennis Mattey has been named as the interim President/CEO of Columbia Association, and will hold the title of interim President/CEO until a President/CEO is selected and hired by CA’s Board of Directors.

During this period, Dennis retains his role as Vice President of Community Operations, overseeing CA’s commitment to open space maintenance, sustainability efforts, event logistics and real estate services.

As Vice President of Community Operations at Columbia Association, Dennis Mattey provides leadership in the areas of open space, facility maintenance, capital programs, sustainability, real estate, events and village operations. He is dedicated to preserving CA’s open space for future generations, activating the amenities offered in CA’s open space and educating residents about stewardship programs.

Since arriving at CA in 1974, Dennis has managed various CA facilities and significant capital and operating budgets. His extensive history with CA has always been rooted in community service. As CA’s Director of Open Space from 2015 to 2021, Dennis initiated several important community initiatives, including a sustainable energy management program focused on reducing CA’s carbon footprint and lowering energy consumption across the full CA inventory. Other highlights include purchasing the first CA PC, acting as the project manager for several outdoor pools, the creation of Supreme Sports Club and construction of the Columbia Gym, moving CA to 100% renewable energy for electricity (including nine solar installations), and rebranding programming including the Lakefront Live series and 4th of July.

Under Dennis’ leadership, open space team members have also taken important steps to expand community outreach including resident rain gardens, Weed Warriors and rooftop residential solar.

Dennis has a bachelor of administrative science from the University of Maryland, and a master of administrative science from the Johns Hopkins School of Continuing Education. His favorite Columbia event is 4th of July at Lake Kitt. He lives by the mantra, “How you do anything is how you do everything.”
